'jack's service sheet'

Carols and Hymns...

I created the cover of Jack's Funeral Service Sheet with the photo of Jack holding my finger and the following words...

Born on:~  Monday November 27th 2000 at 1.50pm and weighed 7lbs 13oz...

Jack ~ you so sadly had to leave us at 1.55pm to go and sleep with the angels...

We love and miss you so very very much our darling...

You are always forever in our hearts and minds...

Hugs, kisses and so much love our sweet angel...

Your heartbroken, Mummy, Daddy, sister Sophie and brother Ben...

'A tiny star'

'So way up high'

'You're now an angel'

'In the sky'

Inside the service sheet were the hymns, prayers and carols for our 'Angel'...

The First Hymn was...

'All Things Bright and Beautiful'

All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours, he made their tiny wings.

The purple headed mountain, the river running by,
The sunset and the morning that brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden, he made them every one.

He gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell,
How great is God almighty who has made all things well.

Shortly after Christmas, our friend Sean came to visit and we were talking of Jacks Funeral Day...

The day itself was a typical day 'winter weather' wise for us here - cold, wet, windy and dull, yet 'Sean' wanted us to know that inside the Church just as the hymn above had started to be sung, a wonderful 'Light' came shining so bright through one of the little windows near to Jack, it looked just like 'Summer' outside...

I mentioned this to another couple of our friends and they said they saw it also ~

'How Wonderful'...

We also had two 'Carols' for Jack as it was 'Christmas Time', These were:-

'AWAY IN A MANGER'

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,

But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes.

I love thee, Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,

And stay by my side till morning is nigh.

Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay,

Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.

Bless all the dear children, in thy tender care,

And fit us for heaven, to live with thee there.

Our Last Carol was:-

'Silent Night'

(This was chosen for Jack by his sister Sophie)...

Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright,

Round yon virgin mother and child,

Holy infant, so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night, shepherds quake at the sight,

Glories stream from heaven afar,

Heavenly hosts sing alleluia,

Christ the Saviour is born, Christ the Saviour is born.

Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love's pure light,

Radiant beams from thy holy face,

With the dawn of redeeming grace:

Jesus, Lord at thy birth, Jesus, Lord at thy birth.

At the end of our service was:-

'THE FAREWELL'

Heavenly Father,

Justine and Andrew have named their baby Jack Andrew, - a name to be treasured in their hearts for ever.

But it was you who formed him in the womb;

You knew him by name before time began.

Now we commit Jack into your ever-caring and gentle love;

He brought the promise of joy to many lives for so short a time;

Enfold him now in eternal life,

In the name of our risen Saviour who was born and died

And lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit for ever.

Amen
