Samuel~Jack with big Brother Ben
'Ben & Sam' March 4th 2002
Ben has just been the most brave little boy, once again... We never told Ben this time that we had a baby growing in Mummy's tummy, he just thought 'mum' was putting on weight... Ben was only 3 1/2 and this time we thought it was best if we tried not to say too much that may confuse him at such an early age... He was always 'curious' of my growing tummy, sometimes just coming up to me and giving my tummy a big hug and kiss! I was very worried about what he would think at the birth, but he proved all our doubts wrong, and as soon as we had given birth to our Samuel, up the stairs he came, and his first words were... "WOW, is that real"!!!! What more can we say! He held Samuel, he was forever kissing Samuel and just 'loved' Samuel...
We tried to explain to Ben, very simply, in a way that we hoped that he may understand, where Samuel was 'going' and 'why'! We explained that 'Samuel' was another very special brother and that he had gained 'some wings', and only special babies can get these, and that Samuel had gone to Heaven to play with their brother angel Jack... Ben was fine with this, and then said... "but how will Sam get to heaven"? I explained that the very special 'wings' that Samuel had earned, meant he could 'fly', ...and with that, Ben said, ..."of course Mummy"...
Over the next few days, Ben just adored to kiss and cuddle Samuel, and truly was a very, special big brother...
Ben talks all the time of Samuel & Jack, and tells us what he thinks they are doing and what games they are playing together in Heaven... He is forever drawing pictures for both of his Heavenly brothers, which are kept nice and safe, in 'Jack & Samuels' special place!
