~ Jackie's Surprise Visit Back To England ~ (July 10th 2002)
I had a phone call from Jackie, week commencing July 8th... She told me she was coming home for a surprise visit on Wednesday 10th, and not to tell anyone, especially her Mum and her best buddy Ronda... What could we do except agree!!!!
We said nothing! We invited Jackie's Mum and Ronda over for Dinner on the evening that Jackie would be flying in, along with the rest of the family... I was cooking and just told everyone it was a 'casual meal' at our house! Oh how wrong were they all to be... We never told the children, just the family, but kept it a secret from Cynthia and Ronda!
Andrew was collecting Jackie from the airport and left in the afternoon... I spent the afternoon preparing the meal for everyone, and made sure that Cynthia was at our house for 6.00pm, Ronda was due about 7.30... Cynthia arrived and wondered where Andrew was!!!! I was running out of 'excuses' fast, but managed to delay the truth... Jackie's brother Barry and family popped in also, but Jackie had not arrived by then, so they went back to their car, and hid down the road out of sight! I told them I would call them when Jackie arrived!
Jackie had arranged to call her mum that evening at our house, and when the phone rang, I answered it! Jackie was just outside our house! I called Cynthia and told her that Jackie was on the phone from Greece and to come and talk with her... Cynthia started to speak with Jackie, (the whole time Jackie was walking closer & closer to our front door)! As Cynthia was speaking, Jackie had come in the front door & was actually standing behind her Mum in our hallway while still talking... Jackie then said something on the phone to make her Mum realise that she was actually HERE, beside her... Cynthia looking very confused, turned around to see her daughter right behind her... She dropped the phone and just cried! This was the moment...

~ What a Surprise ~
'Ronda's Surprise'! Just after Jackie had arrived and surprised her Mum, the rest of the family arrived! We were now just waiting for Ronda... the next big Surprise!!!! We kept looking outside, no sign, she was running late, then we saw her car pull up... Everyone hid in the kitchen, out of sight and very quiet! I hid in the hallway, camera ready... Jackie was to open the door! The last person Ronda would be expecting at our house, on a Wednesday night, would be 'Jackie'!
Ronda knocked... We all hid our laughter, and Jackie opened the door! Ronda's jaw just 'dropped'... What the *bleep* are you doing here she stuttered in disbelief! What a moment! and here it is...
The rest of the evening went so well... Andrew and I could at last relax... We had been so uptight with trying to keep everything a secret, but it worked... To see Jackie's Mum and Ronda's face was so memorable... This was one day, we shall never forget!
The following week, the evening before Jackie was due to fly back home to Greece, she came round with her Mum for dinner... Jackie then took us out for a quick spin in her car before she left! (remember that Jackie)?? Our kiddies just loved that car!!!!
The next time you decide on a visit home Jackie ~ Make sure it's not a surprise one... Firstly, I don't think my 'nerves' could stand another surprise like that, and secondly, I spent far too much time in the kitchen ~ cooking!!!!
