~ Sam's 500 Balloon Release ~

Shortly following Sam's Church Remembrance Service, we made our way down to Mersea Beach to prepare for the 500 Balloons to be released...

On arrival at the beach, Andrew and I were in awe as we saw so many people there, friends, family and also members of the public who we didn't even know, come to collect a Balloon to share in Sam's Day with us...

Beverley had the 500 Balloons ready in 'nets', tied tightly to a ground post, but before we were to release these, everyone was to collect a single red balloon to which they would attach their 'tags' to, ready for the Tagged Release shortly before the main release...

One by one, each adult and child went to Beverley and her daughter Georgina and requested a Balloon...  This was then 'filled with Helium', the 'Special Tag with everyone's personal messages on' was then attached and ready to be released on the beach...

Most people had wrote their Tags out a few weeks prior to the day, giving them able time to write exactly what they wished to write in advance...  Some people collected tags on the day and wrote them just before attaching them to their Balloon...

I created the Tags from the design of the Potters Syndrome Logo, held in memory of all of our potters Babies throughout the World...

The photo below shows just how the Tags looked which people then wrote their special messages on:

Sophie and Ben had wrote their own special tags out the evening before Sam's Day, as you can see in the photo below...

Ben concentrating very hard on writing Sam's name and his own special Birthday message to him...

...and here writing his 2nd Tag out for his big brother Angel Jack!  Sophie & Ben both wanted to send a tagged balloon to Jack as well, to wish him fun on Sam's Birthday and that they hoped he liked Sam's Balloons  :)

Writing out the Messages on our tags for Andrew and Myself was so very difficult indeed...  How can you express so much love and sadness, both at the same time, in writing? and however many times I tried, I could never write to Sam or Jack enough times on that Tag just how much their Mummy & Daddy missed them and Loved them so...

Andrew and I both received a 'Gold' Balloon each to release with our tags in memory of Sam, and also a 'Red Balloon' each to release for our Jack also...

Beverley had this year given every adult releasing a Balloon for Sam a 'large One' and for the children, they were given a slightly smaller one, making it easier for them to hold onto, until the actual release...

~ Receiving & Tagging Our Balloons ~

Below you will see photos as Andrew and I arrived at the 'Beach' where family and friends were receiving their Balloons... So many people had turned out to remember Sam with us on this special day...

Ben and Chloe (Lynda's Daughter), hand in hand, going to receive their Balloons...

"I've got my two"  Says Ben!

"Got mine too" ~ Say's Chloe!

...Just a few of our friends and family after receiving their Balloons and attaching their 'tags'...

Jack & Sam's Cousin Sophie standing infront of one of the 'Release Net's' holding just 250 of the 500 red and white Balloons...

~ Releasing Our Tagged Balloons ~

Preparing for the release of our Tagged Balloons...  John took the time to explain to everyone what he was hoping to achieve with the filming of the release and which way the wind was blowing at the time...  Just a few minutes after this photo was taken, we released the Balloons...

Last minute preparations...  (In this photo you can see Lynda with the 'Presentation Cheque' for the Sponsorship raised for Sam's Day)!

...and with a 'Countdown' from John Worland, our Tagged Balloons for Sam (and Jack), were released at the time of Sam's Birth ~ 1.35pm.  You can see Andrew's 'Gold' Balloon for Sam just starting to drift... I was still holding onto Sam's, I found it very difficult to let go!

If you look closely you can see mine and Andrew's 2 Gold Balloons...
