Shortly after the Tagged Balloons had been released, it was soon time to prepare for the 500 Balloons to be released... These were to be released at the time Sam left Earth for Heaven ~ 2.05pm... We did a couple of things before we were to release the balloons, and these were:
Having photographs taken by the local Newspaper and also presenting the 'Sponsorship Cheque' to Lynda Beaumont, who was receiving this on behalf of the chosen 'Fund' that we were donating the money to in Memory of Sam... We also held a 'Raffle' with the prize of a 'Virgin Hot Air Balloon Flight'... We decided on a Balloon Flight to keep in with the theme of Balloons, and it was through this that the Sponsorship Money was raised... We drew the Raffle after we had released the 500 Balloons, Ben picked out the winning ticket and our Sophie read out the winners name! Our Video Director John Worland had hoped to send a 'Miniature Camera' weighing just a few ounces, tied with 'a very fine wire' to a few Balloons, to be sent up just before the 500 Balloons, so that the camera would be in the sky and able to film the 500 Balloons as they were released... Sadly, this didn't go according to plan... John tried so hard to plan this and work out the weight of the camera and how many Balloons it would need to lift it from the ground... It was quite windy on the day, and I guess that had something to do with the camera attached to the Balloons having difficulty from being lifted... I think Jack and Sam were watching and having a smile from Heaven at this time :)
